The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington is a cultural and historical landmark of immense importance for the entire region, a beloved destination for film lovers, art enthusiasts, and music connoisseurs. With programming passionately curated by Cultural Director Dylan Skolnick, the center has been a cornerstone of Long Island’s cultural life for decades.
Mafalda Minnozzi, honored with the title of Cavaliere della Stella d’Italia by the President of the Italian Republic for her lifelong dedication to spreading Italian culture through music, returns to the Cinema Arts Centre. Her career spans four decades and four continents, and for 28 of those years, her guitarist Paul Ricci has been at her side. Together they have produced over 20 albums and countless shows in South America, Europe and the USA. Mafalda’s unique blend of European cabaret with NYC jazz, mixed with her 28-year career in Brazil, has resulted in a singular style that features her versatile and amazing voice coupled with enough charisma to enchant any audience from Bahrain to Rio, from Birdland to Rome to Huntington.
Paul Ricci, her longtime collaborator, has just released his new album “The Path” (Origin Records, January 2026), a project hailed as “a 29-year journey toward a borderless jazz” (Paris-Move). Featuring an extraordinary ensemble that includes Anthony Jackson, Steve Jordan, Randy Brecker, and the Malian singer Abdoulaye Diabaté, the album showcases Ricci’s unique ability to blend jazz, Brazilian, African, and global rhythms.
For this very special return to the Cinema Arts Centre, Mafalda presents VOCI DI DONNE, a tribute to two undisputed icons of Italian music: Mina and Ornella Vanoni. The project is an intense exploration of their artistic and personal journeys, featuring timeless songs such as Ancora Ancora Ancora, Un Altro Addio, La Voglia E La Pazzia, and Bello Amore, reimagined with jazz arrangements alongside Paul Ricci’s masterful guitar.
What the Critics Say:
“Minnozzi is boundlessly expressive, connecting to each lyric viscerally, regardless of language. It’s that same uninhibited energy she brings to the stage, where everything including body language and gesture heightens the emotional impact of her delivery. Minnozzi’s approach to a song is one of a kind.” – David Adler (editor-in-chief, JazzTimes)
“As a singer, her technique is sublime; she sings not simply with ease, but with faculty, as only very few singers in the world can do.” – Raul Da Gama (Latin Jazz Network)
