🌟 ABOUT THE SHOW: METTI UNA SERA A CENA, DA MORRICONE A JOBIM 🌟
Mafalda Minnozzi makes a triumphant return to New York for the 4th EDITION PEPERONCINO JAZZ FESTIVAL >< NEW YORK SESSION following the success of her chart-topping album RIOFONIC, which remained in the top 10 of the JazzWeek charts for over three months. The album also features on the NACC and ROOTS MUSIC Jazz Charts and continues to receive airplay on the top jazz stations in the USA.
Inspired by the Ennio Morricone soundtrack, “Metti Una Sera A Cena” explores themes from Italian film through jazz interpretations, alongside a journey through Mafalda’s career in Brazil, Italy, and New York. Her innovative scat style transforms the songs into sensory experiences, blending Italian lyricism with Brazilian Bossa and Samba.
Mafalda Minnozzi has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Milton Nascimento, João Bosco, Leny Andrade, Roberto Menescal, Lucio Dalla, Toquinho, Martinho da Vila, and Simoninha. In the United States, she has collaborated with notable musicians like Will Calhoun, Dave Liebman, Joe Locke, John Patitucci, Gene Bertoncini, Rogério Boccato, Helio Alves, and Art Hirahara, among others.
Paul Ricci, celebrated for his exceptional guitar work, has collaborated with a distinguished roster of jazz legends, including Dom Um Romao, Edison Machado, Jaki Byard, Dennis Irwin, Alex Blake, David Kikoski, Victor Jones, Santi DeBriano, Mino Cinelu, Gil Goldstein, Hugo Fattoruso, Cyro Baptista, Steve Thornton, Mike Clark, and Bakithi Kumalo.
We are thrilled to welcome the extraordinary Rico Jones as our special guest on saxophone. A prodigious talent, Rico has been mentored by jazz greats like David Kikoski, Sonny Rollins, and George Coleman. He further honed his craft at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of masters like Paquito D’Rivera and Arturo O’Farrill.
