Mafalda Minnozzi (vocals) and Paul Ricci (guitar) present MEU RIO at THE CENTURY ROOM in TUCSON, a journey through jazz, bossa nova, and Italian song. The repertoire draws from her acclaimed albums RIOFONIC, Natural Impression, and the new project Voci di Donne: Mina & Vanoni in Jazz. They will be joined by Arthur Vint on drums and a bassist to be announced.
On the heels of her JazzWeek radio chart topping album RIOFONIC, Mafalda Minnozzi makes her return to Tucson. Italian born and Brazilian baptized via her over 20 albums and touring career in Brazil that includes duets with the legendary Milton Nascimento, João Bosco and Leny Andrade, Mafalda surprises with her blend of Brazilian, American, French and Italian songbook classics wrapped in an exciting arranging style with NY guitarist Paul Ricci. Their unique takes and improvisational twists blend the familiar with the unexpected.
Mafalda connects in a visceral way that has moved audiences from NY’s top jazz clubs to festivals and theaters throughout Europe, South America and beyond.
Paul Ricci: “The Path”
Paul Ricci recently released his new album “The Path” (Origin Records, January 2026), a project that took 29 years, 17 collaborators, and a lifetime of travel to complete. Conceived in New York City in 1997 with an extraordinary ensemble that included Anthony Jackson, Steve Jordan, Randy Brecker and musicians from Brazil, Uruguay, Cameroon and Mali, the album was finally completed in 2021. Tracks like “Lobo” feature the soaring vocals of Malian singer Abdoulaye Diabaté dancing amidst Ricci’s high-flying guitar phrasing on a bed of rhythms from three continents. The album has been hailed as “a 29-year journey toward a borderless jazz” (Paris-Move) and showcases Ricci’s unique ability to blend jazz, Brazilian, African, and global rhythms.
