It’s a specially significant honor considering vocal albums in foreign languages have to compete with the world’s greatest and most famous jazz instrumentalists. It reflects a truly great work by Mafalda Minnozzi, from the choice of the repertoire, the musicians and the arrangements carefully curated by Mafalda and her producer Paul Ricci, who also contributed two original songs that have enjoyed extensive radio play. The contribution from Roberto Menescal as composer, guitarist and additional arranger, certainly gave RIOFONIC a seal of authenticity and a true Bossa pedigree to go with the blend of multicultural influences that make up the alchemy of this album born in Rio de Janeiro.
